Clip from "Seven Were Trapped" release number 34-40-200, aired in 1957. It is the first episode with the 47J2A.

In this scene P.T. is lifting a man whom he eventually lowers into a cave to rescue 7 trapped miners. This aircraft had a factory installed hoist that utilized a special cut-out in the floor thereby allowing people to be raised and lowered without adversly affecting the center of gravity of the helicopter. It also put the person coming up or going down in a good position to use the skid tube as a step.

Chuck is flying in the G model and also lowers equipment into place using the cargo hook.

We recall this episode being filmed near Bronson Canyon near the Hollywood sign. The cave in this canyon has been used in more movies than can be counted.

The pilots we use today in our external load operations cannot believe the stuff we did with Bell 47's.
